Following Sussex FA's 2011 health check Ashington Cougars is delighted to announce that we have had our Charter Development Club Status renewed by the Football Association. This is the FA's effective "badge of quality", and to be eligible for it clubs have to fulfil a number of criteria, including:

• Appointing a Child Welfare Officer
• Screening all club officials and coaching staff through checks with the Criminal Records Bureau]
• Allocating an officially accredited and trained coach to each team
• Observing appropriate codes of conduct regarding player, manager and spectator behaviour
• Have a 3-5 year development plan
